Sakellaropoulos Organic Farms announce their official induction into the international Slow Food Farms network of Slow Food International, following the completion of the required evaluation and approval process.

Our integration into the world's largest network of farms comes as the culmination and reward of our journey for more than 35 years. From the very beginning, we consciously chose the path of absolute respect for human health and the environment, with a vision to create products of distinct identity and scientifically proven value.

Historically, the Slow Food movement began in 1986 in Italy by Carlo Petrini as a resounding reaction against the increasingly fast, mass production methods and the general industrialization of food (fast food). In the decades that followed, it evolved into a powerful global movement. Today, the movement has expanded to more than 160 countries worldwide, counting over 68,000 official members and over 1,000,000 active supporters. Its impact is historic, having successfully established over 4,000 model gardens in Africa and registered 5,795 traditional products threatened by extinction in the international "Ark of Taste" catalog (Catalog of Traditional Flavors).

The core philosophy of the movement advocates for the creation of "Good, Clean, Fair and Sustainable" food for all. These principles align perfectly with the work of our organic farms. Through the creation of the first Scientific Research Terroir in Greece, we are dedicated to the production of high-quality bio-functional foods, such as premium organic olive oils, natural table olives, and specialized gourmet products, which are globally distinguished for their exceptionally high concentrations of health-protective components, including polyphenols, oleocanthal, squalene, as well as the DMB compound.

This recognition by Slow Food Farms is added to a historic path of global distinctions, which includes the unique record of 1,458 international awards, the title of Best European Organic Olive Producer (CEUCO 2023), as well as the recent rare accolade “World's Best of the Best” at the Pro PR Globe Awards 2025 for excellence and sustainability in the agricultural sector.

At the same time, our commitment to science is confirmed by the participation of our products in leading clinical trials and research projects by renowned universities such as Harvard, Yale, Temple, Auburn and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).

As members of the Slow Food Farms network, we now move forward alongside the National Slow Food Committee of Greece, as well as a vibrant global network of producers and advocates of agroecology. Our goal remains to respect and protect nature, while offering consumers the opportunity to reconnect with authentic, ethical, and "slow" gastronomy, enjoying food that benefits both human health and the planet.

As the ideal of the movement advocates, “We are what we eat”. At Sakellaropoulos Organic Farms, we continue to cultivate consciously and with scientific expertise, proving that the future of nutrition lies in the harmonious return to our roots – a future that combines tradition with the necessary scientific confirmation.
